Pre Placement Skill Enhancement and Career Guidance Workshop Finding the right direction in career is an existential problem that students face in final year of their education. Apt career counseling and skill enhancement acts as an optimal step in the right direction as far as pinpointing what career options, a student need to focus on and achieving success. Keeping in view the same, department of Computer Science and Applications, DAV College, Chandigarh organized a pre placement workshop for the final year students of MSc(IT) on 7/10/2015.The essence of the workshop was to enlighten students with the keys to success in placement drives and various possible career options in the IT industry. These recruitment programs not only help students but also provides continuous impetus to the process of employment in the country.
Continuing with the same, Department of Computer Science, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh organized a placement test on 17 march, 2015 in coordination with Wipro, an Indian multinational IT Consulting and System Integration services company, headquartered in Bangalore , for the final year students of MSc(IT),BCA and BSc(CS).
Wipro is known for their endeavors in the field of application development and technological innovations and also is very popular among young and perspective software developers . The same was visible at the placement test ,which invoked huge enthusiasm amongst the students ,who participated in large numbers. The test, which was conducted online, was designed to test the analytical, reasoning and mathematical abilities of the students. The students expresses gratitude for both the department and Wipro for providing them with an able opportunity of career development and enhancement.Around 30 students participated in the test.
Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh organized a job fair in coordination with NIIT on 25/2/2014. Various reputed IT/ITES/Banking companies including NIIT Technologies, IFBI, ICICI, IMark Infotech, WEBNSEO, AON Hewitt and many more participated in the fair. The fair was inaugurated by the Honble Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh, Sh Mohammed Shayin, IAS. Sh Shayin commended the effort of the college for providing an excellent platform for students seeking job opportunities. He stressed on the need for organizing more such fests by other institutions as well, keeping in view the present competitive scenario.
Dr B.C Josan, Principal, DAV College, Chandigarh while addressing the participants, stressed on the need of developing self confidence and motivational thinking to achieve success in various sphere’s of life.
Total of 688 students from various colleges and institutions in and around Chandigarh participated in the fair with full enthusiasm. After several rounds of written tests, GD, and interviews, 179 students were selected for placement in various companies.
IT and Management Fest was organized on 6th and 7th Feb 2013 jointly by the departments of computer science and management. The fest was inaugurated by Dr Arun Grover,Vice Chancellor,Panjab University.The fest included various cultural,technical and management related events.The primary objective of the fest was to provide platform to the students to showcase their technical,management skills. The fest was managed jointly by faculty members and work force of over 200 student volunteers.Total of 20 events based on various aspects of management and information technology along with several games were organized in the fest.Highly reputed personalities in the field of information technology and management were invited to adjudicate at the various events.
Invitations were sent to various colleges in and around Chandigarh.The fest witnessed healthy participation from students of various colleges. More than 250 students from over 30 colleges participated in the various events organized in the fest.
Major events in the fest included IT and management quiz,debugging,code designing,debate,rhetorics,IT dance,collage designing and webdesigning.
Fest got wide spread coverage in all leading newspapers of the city.
One day IT Exhibition was organized by the IT Club in the second week of October 2012 .The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr B.C Josan . Students studying in the various classes in the department of computer science participated in the event. The primary objective of the event was to spread awareness about lesser known and very useful softwares related to fields of education and entertainment. Senior faculty members and students from the various departments of the college visited the exhibition.
Innovative softwares like NetWatcher,PC Pranks,NetWatcher,Carricature studio,Terragen ,Color Test etc were showcased in the Exhibition.
The working and functionality of the softwares were explained and demonstrated by the participants to the visitors. The softwares were made available to the interested visitors free of cost.
