Seminar on “High Performance Computing” organised at DAV College

 

A seminar on “High Perfomance Computing” was   organised by the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh on 31st Jan. 2014. The Resource people for the seminar included Dr. Anu Gupta, Department of Computer Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Dr. G S Lehal, Professor, Deptt. of Comp. Sc., Punjabi University, Patiala and Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Deptt. of Comp. Engg., IIT Roorkee.

 

The resourse people for the seminar highlighted the importance of high performance computing in the present era of information and communication technology to achieve much higher performance in today’s competitive environment.

 

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Anu Gupta. She focused on the various techniques in field of computer science including Cloud Computing, Sematic Web, Data Mining and SEMAT which can be very helpful in optimizing the performance of the computing. Dr. G. S. Lehal enlightened the audience on the advantage and challenges lying ahead in the field of Natural Language Processing. He also highlighted various tools developed to perform translation from one language to another thereby reducing the communication gap between the man and machine. The last speaker of the seminar Dr. Sandeep Kumar elaborately explained the various lesser known research issues in the Wireless Sensor Network Systems. He highlighted the importance of hybrid and integrated research including Semantics and Wireless Sensor Networks.

 

The seminar was attended by over 50 faculty members from various colleges and institutions from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.

Dr. B.C. Josan appreciated and congratulated the Faculty and Department of Computer Sc. and Information Technology for organizing this research oriented Seminar.
